Fort Myers, Fla.- Lee County Emergency Medical Services will join Stay Alive .... Just Drive!, Lee Memorial Health System, affected families and other emergency response representatives to launch Distracted Driving Awareness Week at the fountain in front of Lee Memorial Hospitals Cleveland campus at 9:30 a.m. today.
Lee County Board of County Commissioners announced during their June 23rd meeting that June 28 through July 4 would be recognized as Distracted Driving Awareness Week and that July would be recognized as Distracted Driving Awareness Month. The resolution reported that multi-tasking while driving, such as using a hand-held cell phone, is the second leading cause of vehicular collisions, claiming even more lives than impaired driving.
